Nuevas Sonrisas’ pop up dental clinic

We turn a community space into a fully functioning dental clinic, and within hours our providers are ready to treat a steady stream of school children. Over the years, we have designed, built, and procured equipment needed to keep 14-16 dental workstations operating during our work week. Our providers are using self-contained portable dental units now that the community space has enough electrical power to handle all the workstations.

In addition to dental services, those children served by the clinic receive dental education as do the parents accompanying their children to the clinic.

The pediatric chairs and storage shelves were designed and built by a team member in the U.S. from off-the-shelf parts.  They’re stored in Catocha between visits.

Most of the dental supplies required to treat more than 4,000 children are very generously donated by individuals, U.S. dental practices, and organizations.  We have been fortunate to receive several generous grants that help in purchasing the self-contained portable dental units and other equipment and supplies.
