The date for the next Nuevas Sonrisas service trip is for the work week of February 22-26, 2027.
Trip Basics
- Trip Dates: February 22-26 work week. Volunteers need to arrive by Saturday, February 20, 2027
- Trip cost: $550 + airfare (financial aid may be available)
- First Trip Orientation: at St Andrews Church, 3228 SW Sunset Blvd. Portland. Date to be determined soon.
- Second Trip Orientation: at St Andrews Church, 3228 SW Sunset Blvd. Portland. Dates to be determined soon.
Typical Trip Outline
This is an example of a typical week. Always refer to your trip documents for up-to-date information.
- Day 1, Saturday: Arrive for our first team meeting at 5pm in Guatemala City.
- Day 2, Sunday: Travel together to Santa Catarina Mita, aka Catocha. Prepare for the service week.
- Days 3-7, Monday-Friday: Service days.
- Day 8, Saturday: Travel together to Guatemala City for those with early departure, then on to Antigua for post trip relaxation.
- Day 9, Sunday: Departure: you are on your own.
We are an all-volunteer managed organization, There is no paid staff to make arrangements.

We accept applications for volunteer positions all year long. The exact number of volunteers needed for each position is determined in collaboration with our Guatemalan colleagues and is announced about 3 months before the trip.
